He was born in Milan in 1979; a few years later, he’s already working with pencils, brushes and cardboard. From 1990 to 1993 he studies painting under the lead of Sergio Giannini. From 2000 to 2006 he attends the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera, where he graduates magna cum laude with a thesis about the Saatchi Gallery of London. The first true step towards Contemporary Art happens during these years, thanks to the peculiar and fascinating classes of Alberto Garutti, and the professional critical approach of Laura Cherubini and Giacinto di Pietrantonio.
The most important moment in his training happens in London in 2000, where he lives for quite a while, working in a London Bridge cafeteria at dawn and spending the long afternoons between the hundreds galleries of the city, fascinated by the work of the Young British Artists and by the cultural liveliness of the London of those years.
From 1999 Alessandro Minoggi has worked for several firms, projecting and realizing works of art or design for commercial spaces. The first firm is the Milanese branch of a Dutch trust that produces bindery cardboard, for which the artist realizes about twenty works, mostly using the cardboard produced by the firm itself. In 2003, for a Belgian firm producing industrial glue, the artist realizes paintings and installations using the produced glue. 2005 sees the beginning of the Lovely Lawyers project, for a lawyer’s office in Lucca; ten paintings representing the most well known lawyers of American TV series, from Perry Mason to Ally Mc Beal.
Of the same period are the first two exhibitions of the artist at the Abnormal Gallery in Milan, Neverending Works (2005) and Glamourable (2006), in which he proposes paintings inspired by fashion and advertisement, looking at magazines and glamour as an example of aesthetics “directly descending from the history of art and its most obvious and beautiful keys”.
Lately Alessandro Minoggi has been drawn into the musical scene, putting together the bands Sinestasi and Space Carpenters, and into the comics world with his drawings for Atene, 14 marzo 1997, a graphic novel created with Alessandro Ferrari (writer), Letizia Ragno (photographer), and Mimosa Campironi (actress).
In 2007 he founded with Alessandro Ferrari the editorial studio Absink.
The studio was closed in 2015 when he moved to London and worked as editorial graphic designer for Scholastic.
We’re not saying anything about the future of this artist as it’s going to be quite predictably successful.
Now, he lives and works in Milan.

Nasce nel 1979 a Milano, pochi anni dopo inizia a cimentarsi con le matite, i pennelli e l’immancabile cartone. Dal 1990 al 1993 inizia a sudiare pittura sotto la guida del Maestro Sergio Giannini. Dal 2000 al 2006 frequenta l’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera dove si diplomera’ a pieni voti con una tesi sulla Saatchi Gallery di Londra. Il primo vero approccio all’Arte Contemporanea nasce in questi anni, grazie alle particolari e suggestive lezioni di Alberto Garutti, e alla professionalita’ critica di Laura Cherubini e Giacinto di Pietrantonio. Il momento piu’ importante di formazione avviene pero’ a Londra nel 2000, dove Alessandro Minoggi vive per diverso tempo, lavorando all’alba in una caffetteria di London Bridge e spendendo i lunghi pomeriggi tra le centinaia di gallerie d’Arte della citta’, affascinato dall’opera degli YoungBritish Artists e dal nuovo fervore culturale inglese di quegli anni.
Dal 1999 Alessandro Minoggi inizia a lavorare per diverse aziende progettando e costruendo opere d’arte o di arredo per gli spazi commerciali. La prima azienda e’ la sede milanese di una multinazionale olandese che produce cartone per legatorie, per cui l’artista ha eseguito una ventina di opere in cui prevalente e’ l’uso del cartone prodotto dall’azienda stessa. Nel 2003 , per una ditta belga di colle industriali, l’artista ha proposto quadri e installazioni con l’ausilio della colle prodotte. Nel 2005 comincia l’opera chiamata Lovely Lawyers per uno studio legale di Lucca, una serie di 10 quadri raffiguranti i piu’ noti avvocati dei telefilm americani: da Perry Mason a Ally Mc Beal.
Di questi anni le prime due personali dell’artista all’Abnormal Gallery di Milano, Neverending Works (2005) e Glamourable (2006) in cui propone quadri figurativi ispirati alla moda e alla pubblicita’, opere in cui l’artista si affaccia al mondo delle riviste e del glamour prendendole come esempio di un’estetica che “crea una discendenza diretta con la storia dell’arte e le sue chiavi piu’ ovvie e bellissime”.
Dal 2007 al 2015, all’attivita’ di artista, fotografo, fumettista, musicista e scenografo, Alessandro Minoggi accompagna l’attivita’ di Art Director e grafico editoriale per Absink con Alessandro Ferrari e Andrea Simonato.
Dal 2015 al 2020 vive a Londra lavorando come grafico editoriale per Scholastic.
Attualmente vive e lavora a Milano.
